A year after the special ASEAN Leaders Meeting on the situation in Burma, held in Jakarta on April 24, 2021, France reiterates its support for vital efforts by ASEAN and its member states to find a political solution to the crisis in Burma that respects the will of the Burmese people.

France deplores the lack of progress due to the Burmese military junta's uncooperative attitude toward implementing the Five-Point Consensus designed to launch a constructive political dialogue among all concerned stakeholders, facilitated by the ASEAN special envoy. France reiterates its call for an immediate end to the violence perpetrated by security forces, the removal of obstacles to the delivery of humanitarian aid, and this political dialogue including the national unity government, the committee representing the Assembly of the Union and other pro-democratic forces, as it is crucial to ending the crisis in the country.

France reaffirms its support for the Burmese people, hailing their bravery and unwavering commitment to democracy despite suffering and repression.
