European Humanitarian Forum (Brussels, 21-23 Mar. 2022)

Published: Mon Mar 21 2022

The first European Humanitarian Forum will take place in Brussels from Monday, 21 to Wednesday, 23 March 2022, in a hybrid format, so online participation and engagement will be possible in most events. It will bring together political leaders and humanitarian actors from international and non-governmental organizations. This Forum follows on from the French National Humanitarian Conference of 17 December 2020. Humanitarian needs have reached historic levels due to armed conflicts, climate change and the socio-economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Safe and unhindered humanitarian access to populations is in danger, particularly because of violations of international humanitarian law by state and non-state actors.

The Forum will offer a European perspective on humanitarian challenges and help identify solutions and actions to address these historic needs while taking into account the constraints faced by humanitarian operators and beneficiaries. It will provide a global platform for open strategic debates between EU policymakers and the international humanitarian community.

The Forum will include several thematic workshops involving humanitarian dialogues and sessions. The agenda will include hunger and conflicts, aid localization, gender-based violence, international humanitarian law, climate change and finance.
