Estonia - Meeting between Catherine Colonna and her counterpart (01 Aug. 2022)

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna spoke on August 1 with her Estonian counterpart, Urmas Reinsalu.

The minister congratulated Mr. Reinsalu on his recent appointment as Estonia's foreign minister.

The ministers commended the quality of our bilateral relationship. They reaffirmed their shared desire to continue strengthening ties between France and Estonia, particularly economic ties and trade relations.

They also discussed the security and stability of the Baltic region and emphasized France's contribution in this regard, especially within the framework of NATO's Baltic Air-Policing mission and its Enhanced Forward Presence in Estonia. They also reiterated their support for a strong, united, multifaceted European response to the Russian aggression in Ukraine. They welcomed the prospect of Finland and Sweden's membership in NATO. They also addressed the situation in the Sahel and their commitment to supporting the armed forces of the countries in that region.
